Without spoiling things and getting too political.
I love these things. People want 50:50 representation, but then they turn around and in the next breath say it's all about the best person for the job. What if the best 90% of the candidates available were from one gender? Which of their views would win out? best for the job of 50:50? :) When any government or church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives.

If the best 90% of the candidates were from one gender then fair fucks to that gender. They really socked it to the other gender there with their gender-specific skills.
If however, the other lot felt there were some structural factors skewing the balance, they'd probably be inclined to get some t-shirts printed and have a bit of a campaign about it.
