Got around to checking out the new family drama designed to tug at the heartstrings 'Wonder' a few days ago. Has anyone else seen this yet? What did you think? Based on the New York Times best selling novel and starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay the film tells the story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters the 5th grade, attending a mainstream school for the first time. I like to think that i judge films fairly, never biased when it comes to genre and choosing to like or dislike them based on what they deliver. A family drama designed to tug at the heart strings needs to pull something pretty special out of thebag to maintain my interest..fortunatly this does just that. great performances from all the leads, while rarely laugh out loud funny it prefers to keep theĀ humor less slapstick and more sweet/low key. Gotta say, you do wind up feeling for August and wanting him to triumph. Yep, it's as predictable as they come..but a solid, fun, heart warming ride none the less.
