Having seen the original film and it's follow up a fair time back (kinda enjoying the 1st film while not watching and not hating the follow up but feeling as though it was lacking something), got around to checking out the new 3rd instalment earlier today. 'Rise of the footsoldier : The Pat Tate story' whilst weaving in and out of the events of certainly the 1st film, does focus primarily on the events surrounding Pat Tate (played once again by Craig Fairbrass). Starting as a prequel (commencing late 80's i believe and finishing up with that Land Rover scene), much like the 1st 2 films, this is not gonna be to everyones tastes..extortionate amounts of swearing, nudity at every given opportunity and with the violence and gore being graphic and plenty. Personally though the fam and i enjoyed it..not for any one given factor but for the power and intensity that the film bought with it with the leads (especially Fairbrass) being on fine form. Not likely to be up for an academy award anytime soon (lol) but an ultra violent, sweary ride which suprisingly given the volume of shit similar brit gangster films doing the rounds, actually manages to be a enjoyable, watchable ride (if your so inclined of course).
