Please stand by

I do like being pleasently suprised by a film, especially if its a film that seemingly comes outta nowhere. Such is the case with a new indie comedy drama that the fam and i finished watching an hour or so ago titled 'Please stand by'. The film stars (amongst others) Dakota Fanning, Alice Eve , Toni Collette and others. The film tells of Dakota's Autistic girl who breaks away from her constructed life at her carehome to go on a roadtrip to deliver a compettion entry script to a movie studio in LA. On paper this may not sound all that interesting when in actuality thanks to great performances, a solid mix of both feel good and despair (mostly centred around Dakota's central character and her dog)..this is actually a really watchable indie drama comedy. Take note though, the script she writes and associated references that pop up throughout the film all relate to 'Star Trek'. This said, it doesn't bog down or take the reigns of the film so Trek fans will get something extra from this and non Trek fans wont be left groaning. Recommend giving this a looksee.
