The movie tells the story of a young woman and follows her journey to discover the truth of who she is and her fight to change the world. Check out the synopsis:
The movie focuses on Alita, a creation from an age of despair. Found by the mysterious Dr. Ido while trolling for cyborg parts, Alita becomes a lethal, dangerous being. She cannot remember who she is, or where she came from. But to Dr. Ido, the truth is all too clear. She is the one being who can break the cycle of death and destruction left behind from Tiphares. But to accomplish her true purpose, she must fight and kill. And that is where Alita's true significance comes to bear. She is an angel from heaven. She is an angel of death. Watch the trailer below:
Since the trailer was released, Alita's eyes have been receiving mixed reviews, with some people saying they look horrifying.
Director Robert Rodriguez has explained the decision to give the character those crazy peepers:
Quote:The manga anime eyes that we’ve seen since the 30s and Astro Boy has never been done photorealistically. So, usually when we see an anime translated, it doesn’t feel like that. The early artwork I saw that Jim (James Cameron) had, before it was even technically possible, had that in her (Alita). It was so striking and so arresting, I thought, ‘My god, we have to do that. We have to be the first to bring a true manga and anime character to life.’
I personally love the huge eyes and cannot wait to see this film. Fuck the nay-sayers!
