Got around t watching 'The Last Jedi' the other day. Despite it's incredible haul at the box office, it really has divided both critics and us ordinary folk alike. Personally..i thought it sucked..that's right, didn't enjoy it. What we have here, despite the order being a little askew, is most of the previous movies rolled into one (original storytelling need not apply here). With one key figure being done a massive diservice in terms of getting to know them / screen time, Kylo Ren still being little more than a spoilt, whiny child throwing a strop at, well, everything. All these faults (and a very perculiar moment involving Leia) are not even the worst offences. The singular worst thing about the entire film, which coincidently makes up a massive part of the film, is everything that occurs on that damned island. There was a hell of a lot of pottering about, a fair biit of chat..and very, very little else. With a surplus to requirements subplot involving John Boyega's characte (whatever his name is..i cant remember) which served no purpose other than to leave a bad taste in the mouth. The only redeeming element to the film was the opening space battle scenes..it all died a death after that. For all the bad press the prequel trilogy received, i enjoyed that trilogy infinitly more than episodes 7 and 8. God only knows what shit show episode 9 will bring.
