The highly rated Ajax youngster collapsed on the pitch during his team's recent pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen, and today it's been confirmed that he's suffered serious and irreversible brain damage.

Such a shame that he'll never get to fulfil his immense potential, and this highlights reel shows just how good he was.

Properly sad news.

Ajax midfielder Abdelhak Nouri has been taken out of intensive care just over two weeks after he collapsed during a pre-season friendly.
The 20-year-old footballer suffered 'serious and permanent brain damage' following his collapse in the second half of Ajax's fixture with Werder Bremen on July 8.
Nouri is no longer in an induced coma, his club said in a statement on behalf of his family on Tuesday — and they added that he is breathing unaided.
