At last..in an week full of films ranging at the very best as average all the way back to utter shite, had almost given up hope, all those hours wasted..and then along came 'Death Note' and bucked the trend this week. Ok, its not perfect. I cant compare against the original anime..never watched itand whilst the film starts of very strong and finishes pretty strong, oncethe story becomes more contained and less anarchic, it did / does hurt the film in my opinion. Quibbles asde, with likeable leads, a great job both visually and vocally when it comes to, is his name Riku or something like that, some very gory deaths (not all but there are a couple of particually memorable ones) and a kick ass soundtrack if you are an 80's fan. The film is set in what appears to be present day but for some reason the score resembles an 80's syth/electro one with some memorable classic tunes thrown in for good measure. This all amounts to a very enjoyable ride. Not my favourite anime live action adaptation but a bloody decent job worthy of a rewatch or 2 down the line none the less.
