Exercise and fitness

RE: Exercise and fitness
Thats great news ace3000, you wont be disapointed. Just hope you are up to the challenge. The amount of friends who have tried and thrown in the towel after a couple of sessions..flaming quitters. Hey, you have been excercizing prior to starting so it already puts you in good stead. The fit test is jus that, a taster of sorts but from the very first workout dont expect things to start easy enough and build. Its gonna kick your butt right from the first proper workout. Wouldn be doing its job if it didnt.Your best friends will be either a towel or a butt load of kitchen towel, a sizeable glass / bottle of water and if doing it on lino flooring..a mop for afterwards.

RE: Exercise and fitness
Ok so i think i need to reevaluate this whole Insanity thing lol. Wow nothing could have prepared me for this,so I done the Fit Test on Monday and the warm up alone was hard enough and as I progressed through the exercises the intensity was like nothing I've experienced. I still have really bad DOMS so I haven't continued but i'll start again once my legs are healed up now I know what i'm in for.

Oh dear, you were done in after the Insanity fit test warm up. It gets so, so much harder than that. As i tell everyone whho asks, its not called insanity for nothing. Still, if you want to get maximum results you have got to put your body through this kind of intensive training. It really does work. Sorry, you mentioned that you have bad DOMS..whats that? Heres hoping that you do decide to give Insanity another go.

RE: Exercise and fitness
What I would say Ace is, yeah its fooking mental, but listen to it. Only do what you can. Push yourself as hard as you can like, but within reason. The first time i did it, I barely made it through the warm up. But I made sure I stayed til the end of each session, to let my body know Thats the length of exercise i'd be doing. Haha, the things we tell ourselves eh? haha

I wonder what chairs think about all day:

"Oh, here comes another asshole!"

RE: Exercise and fitness
Yean its definitely mental, now i fully understand why its called insanity. The warm up is killer and you have 'The Machine' who just bangs out every exercise making look weak

@Gymaddict69DOMS stands for delayed onset of muscle soreness it's basically when you overwork your muscles and it takes days to recover but it's not an injury. But i'm not giving up ill start again on monday i should be okay now i've adjusted to the shock to my system.

RE: Exercise and fitness
Nice one ace3000, glad to hear that you are gonna return to insanity next week. Thank you for clearing up what doms stands for. Generally if i overwork my muscles, especially the leg ones, and i can and everything feels tight the day after. You know what i do..another workout. I find that frees things up. You mention the things we tell ourselves, orionmetus. I love sean's response to such a idea as he quotes " Sometimes as a fitness professional people ask me why i do the things that i do..because i wanna look good". Sums it up really lol.

haha....I just wanna look good haha.

Yeah, the one thing i would say Ace as well is make sure if you're training six times a week that you're definitely following the eating plan. I think if you're not eating right you'll find it harding to go again the next day. Definitely makes it all much easier when you follow the program to the letter.

RE: Exercise and fitness

Thats great advice, Orionmetus. Usually i eat properly after the workouts all done. Cant really do insanity on a full stomach (makes the power jumps a bloody nightmare if you are feeling bogged down). Usually just have a banana of something simaler before hand. I have just downloaded another beacbody program to compliment the existing programs i have. The program is called 'Body Beast' This program is all about the weight training. What with this, Insanity and the other bits i do..im expecting great things from that combo. Trouble is i now have Insanity, Insanity :The Asylum, Insanity T25, Insanity Max 30, P90X3 and Body Beast. Theres only so many hours in the day what with well over a years worth of workouts there (assuming i do each program only once). Many of the discs are starting to gather dust.

RE: Exercise and fitness
Thanks for the advice guys I think that's where I've been going wrong because I haven't really changed up my diet since beginning the program. Only thing is I borrowed it from a friend who found it too tough so I don't have the actual eating program. That 'Body Beast' looks pretty tough and with all those other programs I now fully understand why your called gymaddict lol

RE: Exercise and fitness
What can i say ace3000, its one of my vices (along with getting hammered while socialising lol). I have not started Body Beast yet, need to but a weight seat first so i can do it properly. Not expensive, just need to get round to buying one. Being addicted to exercise isnt always a good thing though, I dropped down to little over 9 stone early on as was over doing the equipment (pre insanity ). Most of my bones were protruding and i went white as a sheet. Friends actually thought i was dying. Im a more healthy weight now but its a cautionary tale of way, way too much exercise.
