Scots are mourning the loss of Irn-Bru as company announces it's stopping production
Scottish people everywhere are in mourning today, as the company that makes Irn-Bru has said it will stop producing it's full-sugar version.

AG Barr, which produces the drink, is cutting down it's sugar content 10.3g per 100ml to 4.7g. That's 8.5 fucking teaspons in one drink now being slashed to 4. That's an insane amount of sugar. No bloody wonder Scots have such rotten teeth. The change comes after the UK government is set to introduce 'sugar tax', which will tax the soft-drinks industry for drinks with over 5g of sugar per 100ml. The drink will be replaced with a brand new recipe which will contain sweeteners instead.

Since hearing the news, fans of the drink have been panic-buying Irn-Bru before it disappears forever. There has even been campaigns against the change. The Save Real Irn-Bru campaign actually has over 42,000 signatures on it's change.org page. This is what the page says:

Quote:I understand that soft drink manufacturers are coming under mounting pressure from government to lower the sugar content of their drinks and that they intend on introducing a “sugar tax” that would apply to the sales of sugary drinks.I would far rather pay more for a bottle than have an altered recipe version.
Although we are being made more aware of the health effects of too much sugar in our diet it also has to be said that Aspartame has often been the subject of studies and intense debate. Aspartame is believed, by some researchers and activists, to have links to a multitude of ailments including cancer, seizures, headaches, depression, ADHD,weight gain and birth defects.

Wow. 42,000 people are way too invested in a drink. The new recipe is currently being cooked up and will hit the shelves later this month. To those who are still upset about this; GET A LIFE! IT'S A FUCKING DRINK!!!

Cutting the sugar in Irn-Bru, from 8 1/2, to 4 teaspoons of sugar can't be a bad thing, but when there's talk of using artificial sweetener's, they're reportedly worse for your body, than sugar is

Was watching the Scottish news the other night, & Scot's are going out stockpiling, as many cans, & bottles, of the current/old recipe, as they can

Think we should start doing the same and then drip feed it to them one third of a can at a time for £10 a pop.

Or just shoot the ginger wankers and feed them to ones dogs.
